Neighborhood community leaders working together to change lives in Central Ohio
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Community leaders in neighborhoods across Central Ohio are working to keep local kids on the right track.
In recent years, Columbus has seen a rise in crime involving teens. Now, a major effort is underway to push area teens in the right direction.
Ralph Carter, is one of those on the front lines helping in the effort to change lives. Carter, the founder of ‘We Are Linden’, has seen the pain and heartache first hand.
Every day, he has boots on the ground as he tries to pull local kids in the right direction.
“We want to make sure that we put our loving arms around a kid, bring that village mentality back. I think that’s really what the fight is for, really bringing that village aspect back to the community,” Carter told ABC 6.
Carter’s group provides local teens with mentorship, community service opportunities and job training. For many, it’s a way out.
