New Kids On The Block announces 2024 tour with Ohio stops

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Step one, have lots of fun: Fans of New Kids On The Block can too when the ’90s sensation boy band returns to Ohio in 2024.

The group’s “Magic Summer” tour kicks off in June before making its way to Columbus in August. The band, which has sold more than 80 million albums worldwide with hits like “Hangin’ Tough,” “You Got It (The Right Stuff)” and “Step By Step,” will perform at Nationwide Arena on Aug. 23, 2024.

Late Ohio singer ‘Nightbirde’ still making an impact

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Family members of the late singer Jane Marczewski, also known as “Nightbirde,” shared a special moment on social media about how the Ohio native’s electrifying performance on “America’s Got Talent” is still making an impact.

“Jane’s sister and brothers just landed in Los Angeles to attend @agt ‘live show’ as VIP guests,” the post’s caption read. “They’ll be rooting for the @mzansiyouthchoir who sang her song ‘It’s OK’. (Jane may be rooting from heaven tonight).”

Columbus musician hopes to win the chance of a lifetime

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Every artist needs that one big break, and you could help one Columbus woman get hers. Gabrielle Solange is a singer and musician who goes by the stage name “7HO3NIX,” which is pronounced “Phoenix.”

As a runaway teen who grew up in the foster care system, Solange found music comforting. It was an escape. It was her safe place.

In 2021, 10TV interviewed Solange for a holiday giving story. She said she felt unseen and unheard as a child. Eventually, she just learned to be invisible. She’d spend hours locked away in her room, writing about how she felt.

Music Columbus to kick off The Gift of Music instrument drive

For the fifth year, Music Columbus is working to bring music to schools around the city by helping bring instruments to students.

The Gift of Music instrument drive is back for 2023 to collect new or gently used musical instruments and accessories to distribute to schools and after-school programs in Central Ohio. Music Columbus started this annual tradition in 2019 to ensure children have access to learning to play musical instruments amid budget cuts in schools and financial hardships.

Pentatonix announces Columbus concert date

Pentatonix on Monday announced a Columbus tour stop in December.

The a capella group will perform at Nationwide Arena on Dec. 2.

Pentatonix is in the middle of its “The World Tour” that began Aug. 9 and runs through Sept. 16. That tour is scheduled to stop in Cincinnati on Aug. 29.

Columbus Symphony brings in new voice boss

Stephen Caracciolo will be leading the chorus of the Columbus Symphony beginning in September. His role as chorus director means he will be preparing the Columbus Symphony chorus for concert series and community performances.

Youth band to play at festival

The Gettysburg Brass Band Festival is welcoming the All-Star Brass and Percussion of Columbus, Ohio, to a series of performances.

Dr. Eric Aho, director of bands and orchestra at Independence High School, founded the group in 1986. Students involved in the band must receive a nomination and successfully complete an audition process, according to a release issued by the local brass band festival.

Young musicians from over 40 schools and eight central Ohio counties currently participate in the organization. While some All-Star students pursue musical careers, most continue with music as an avocation. In 2009, 2014 and 2019, the ensemble participated in the New York Band & Orchestra Festival with performances in Central Park and Carnegie Hall. The All-Star Brass and Percussion is the first and most awarded youth honors brass band organization in North America, according to the release.
