Cyber Monday is one of the biggest online shopping days of the year. Online shopping scams accounted for almost 32% of all the scams reported to the 2022 Better Business Bureau scam tracker report.

Experts from the Better Business Bureau suggest the following:

Keep antivirus software up to date to avoid pop-up phishing scams
Price check. If a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is
Always use a credit card because of the protections offered from various credit card companies
Have a clear understanding on the return policy for “closeout” or “final sale” items

The world’s largest Ronald McDonald House in central Ohio

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio aims to be a beacon of hope for the community, providing a safe space for families who have children spending time in the hospital.

Located across the street from Nationwide Children’s Hospital, the Ronald McDonald House just expanded.

“As you might imagine, it’s been a very interesting thing for all of us to be able to watch, and we’ve been so eager for it to be done. And now that it’s here, we’re just so thrilled that we’re able to serve another 2000 families every single year here at the Ronald McDonald House,” Ryan Wilkins, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio chief marketing officer, said.

Bikers trade helmets for aprons: Columbus motorcycle clubs serve Thanksgiving feast to homeless

Nearly a dozen Columbus motorcycle clubs spent time in the kitchen serving Thanksgiving dinner to Columbus’ homeless community.

“It’s just an honor for us to do it,” said Amy Stromer, a member of the Saddle Tramps motorcycle club who volunteered to pass out Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie Thanksgiving morning at the Faith Mission on Grant Avenue.

The dinner created by the Saddle Tramps has been a holiday tradition for nearly 20 years, where motorcycle groups across the city have volunteered to serve dinner to people with nowhere to go.

Columbus Dream Center serves 1,000 Thanksgiving meals\

Hundreds of hot, free Thanksgiving meals were served at the Columbus Dream Center Thursday morning.

Bob Evans paired up with the nonprofit to feed anyone who was hungry. Across 13 Dream Center locations, 1,000 meals are being handed out.

The location on Greenwood Avenue handed out about 200.

Sheetz $1.99 Thanksgiving gas in West Virginia: Can your car use it?

Sheetz has a deal on gas for Thanksgiving travelers hitting the road during the holiday week, but not all cars can use the type of fuel offered.

Similar to past Thanksgiving deals at Sheetz gas stations and restaurants, the company is lowering the price of unleaded 88 gas to $1.99 a gallon. This time around, the price cut went into effect on Monday and will end at 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 27.

Locally-owned restaurant opens new Arena District location

Fans of Latin-American food will have a new option when it comes to downtown dining.

Local sandwich restaurant Sí Señor has opened the doors on its new location in the Arena District.

“We’re thrilled to open a location in the Arena District, known as an iconic sports-anchored destination that welcomes millions of visitors per year,” Guillermo Perez, founder of Sí Señor said in a media release. “We invite the local Columbus community to stop in and join us for Peruvian-inspired cuisine with only the freshest ingredients as we welcome you to the Latin flavors of Sí Señor!”

Columbus approves $4M to complete treatment center

Columbus City Council approved more than $4 million Monday to complete the construction of the new Franklin County Crisis Care Center.

The new facility will allow the Alcohol, Drug, and Mental Health Board of Franklin County (ADAMH) to increase its continuum of care.

ADAMH representatives said once it’s complete, the new center will have the resources necessary to meet the needs of those experiencing mental health or substance use issues in Franklin County.
