COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — The Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio (DSACO) welcomed the start of Down Syndrome Awareness Month (October) with a celebration on Sunday.

Promoting acceptance and inclusion of people with Down Syndrome, their Columbus Buddy Walk event was hosted at Fortress Obetz in south Columbus.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A Columbus organization hosted a Family Fun Fall Festival Sunday, bringing together the community in an effort to stop the violence.

The event, held at Champion Middle School in the King-Lincoln Bronzeville section in east Columbus, was packed with things to do, including bouncy houses, raffles, and trick-or-treating.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Nationwide Children’s Hospital continues to create a magical place for patients and their families.

If you visit the hospital, you will notice a fleet of butterflies on wheels. It’s called the ‘Butterfly Wagon Program.’

Nichole Ferris, with Nationwide Children’s Hospital Foundation, says the core mission of the hospital is distraction. Ferris says these blue butterfly wagons are just one of many distractions that help ease young patients as they enter the hospital.

An estimated 43,000-plus women and more than 500 men will die from breast cancer in the U.S. this year. Since 1982, the Susan G. Komen organization has fought to reduce — and hopefully, put an end to — such deaths.

The group’s efforts are well-known, particularly its flagship event, Race for the Cure, held annually in more than 50 locations in the country. Locally, the Komen Columbus Race for the Cure will begin at 8:45 a.m. Saturday with a timed 5K, followed by an untimed 5K run/walk and a one-mile family fun walk.
