Northern lights: Who in Ohio has a chance at seeing the auroras Thursday\

Ohio is among the states that have a chance at seeing the northern lights Thursday and into Friday, all thanks to an active bout of space weather.

NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center upgraded its geomagnetic storm watch for Friday, noting that multiple coronal mass ejections, or CMEs, are expected to impact Earth in the coming days.

With three CMEs already inbound and a fourth expected, forecasters upgraded the storm watch Wednesday evening to a G3 (on a strength scale of 1 to 5).

Columbus Symphony’s ‘Holiday Pops’ returns to Ohio Theatre with chorus, Santa Claus

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The Columbus Symphony’s annual holiday tradition is returning this weekend at the Ohio Theatre, with the Columbus Symphony Chorus joining in presenting the most-loved holiday songs and carols.

The symphony is presenting “Holiday Pops” with guest soprano Dee Donasco at 8 p.m. Friday, 3 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Ohio Theatre. Tickets range from $18.70 to $88 and can be purchased in-person at the CBUSArts Ticket Center at 39 E. State St., by phone at 614-469-0939 or online here.

This weekend’s performances will feature popular holiday favorites like, “We Need a Little Christmas,” “Silent Night,” “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” “Sleigh Ride,” “Mary, Did You Know?” and more.

Spaghetti Warehouse is reopening Downtown: what you should know

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Excitement for Spaghetti Warehouse fans is building as reservations for the new Columbus restaurant are currently open.

After much fanfare, the pasta chain’s new digs, at 150 S. High St., will finally welcome guests Thursday and hold a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:15 p.m.

The restaurant’s website allows diners to make reservations online for parties of seven or fewer, however, groups of eight and larger are encouraged to contact the eatery.

Columbus nonprofit’s shipment to serve families for Christmas stuck in customs

A Columbus-based organization’s plans to spread joy were almost ruined this holiday season.

The organization, Wagons Ho Ho Ho, packs Christmas meals in wagons for families across central Ohio.

“It’s nice to alleviate some of that stress with that Christmas dinner but also giving a child this old-fashioned wagon that stays with them for years and years and years,” said Donn Ditzhazy, Board Member of Wagons Ho Ho Ho.

Group handing out Naloxone at music events gets boost

A central Ohio non-profit organization fighting the opioid epidemic is getting a boost of support this holiday season.

The organization, This Must Be the Place, travels to music festivals around the country, handing out free naloxone and offering education to those in attendance.

Columbus native William Perry co-founded the organization in January of 2022 with his wife Ingela. His story is one he says is all too common.

Keep antivirus software up to date to avoid pop-up phishing scams
Price check. If a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is
Always use a credit card because of the protections offered from various credit card companies
Have a clear understanding on the return policy for “closeout” or “final sale” items

The world’s largest Ronald McDonald House in central Ohio

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio aims to be a beacon of hope for the community, providing a safe space for families who have children spending time in the hospital.

Located across the street from Nationwide Children’s Hospital, the Ronald McDonald House just expanded.

“As you might imagine, it’s been a very interesting thing for all of us to be able to watch, and we’ve been so eager for it to be done. And now that it’s here, we’re just so thrilled that we’re able to serve another 2000 families every single year here at the Ronald McDonald House,” Ryan Wilkins, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio chief marketing officer, said.

Bikers trade helmets for aprons: Columbus motorcycle clubs serve Thanksgiving feast to homeless

Nearly a dozen Columbus motorcycle clubs spent time in the kitchen serving Thanksgiving dinner to Columbus’ homeless community.

“It’s just an honor for us to do it,” said Amy Stromer, a member of the Saddle Tramps motorcycle club who volunteered to pass out Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie Thanksgiving morning at the Faith Mission on Grant Avenue.

The dinner created by the Saddle Tramps has been a holiday tradition for nearly 20 years, where motorcycle groups across the city have volunteered to serve dinner to people with nowhere to go.

Columbus Dream Center serves 1,000 Thanksgiving meals\

Hundreds of hot, free Thanksgiving meals were served at the Columbus Dream Center Thursday morning.

Bob Evans paired up with the nonprofit to feed anyone who was hungry. Across 13 Dream Center locations, 1,000 meals are being handed out.

The location on Greenwood Avenue handed out about 200.
