Columbus restaurant is listed among the best independent pizzerias nationally

A Columbus pizzeria around for more than 60 years has received a nationwide prize.

Terita’s Pizza, a family-run pizza shop at 3905 Cleveland Ave., was included on PMQ Pizza Magazine’s list of the 25 most popular independent pizzerias in America in December, earning the No. 20 spot. The local pizzeria was opened in 1959 by Gus Iannario. Nearly 65 years later, his son, Tom, continues to run the business.

Locally-owned restaurant opens new Arena District location

Local sandwich restaurant Sí Señor has opened the doors on its new location in the Arena District.

“We’re thrilled to open a location in the Arena District, known as an iconic sports-anchored destination that welcomes millions of visitors per year,” Guillermo Perez, founder of Sí Señor said in a media release. “We invite the local Columbus community to stop in and join us for Peruvian-inspired cuisine with only the freshest ingredients as we welcome you to the Latin flavors of Sí Señor!”

Coca-Cola breaks ground on new $100M Columbus distribution and warehouse facility

Coca-Cola broke ground Monday on a new $100 million, 400,000-square-foot distribution and warehouse facility in Columbus.

Sam Meiner, Coca-Cola Consolidated’s Market Unit Vice President and General Manager in Ohio, said the investment in new facilities is estimated to generate $2.3 million in local tax dollars.

The company said in July that 325 employees will transfer from its current location to the new site that’s part of the Rickenbacker Industrial Center in south Columbus. Twelve new full-time jobs are also planned for the new location.

Columbus reveals new affordable housing apartment complex near Topiary Park

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Topiary Park Crossing apartments are officially open. The five-story building is bringing affordable housing to the area.

“Everybody in Columbus regardless of where you work, what your lifestyles are, or what your economic situation is [deserves affordable housing.] This project is one of many to come that is forging the pathway for Columbus as the best neighborhood,” said Alex Fischer, chair of the Columbus Downtown Development Corporation board.

Mayor Andrew Ginther said the project is part of making downtown more inclusive and vibrant. It’s also about allowing anyone who wants to live downtown, the opportunity to do so.

National chain Biggby Coffee coming to west Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A franchise-based national coffee chain is opening its first west Columbus location.

Founded in 1995, Biggby Coffee is an American coffee chain with over 300 locations in the United States. A Biggby Coffee franchise, owned by Hilliard residents Cari Doliana and Ben Grose, is opening at 1750 Hilliard Rome Road. The location will be drive-thru only, but Doliana said they are planning to add a walk-up window in the future.

“I’ve been in customer service pretty much my whole adult life,” Doliana said. “I’ve always had some kind of dream to go into the service food industry.”
