COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Nearly 6,000 pounds of rehabilitated sea cow made the journey to Florida over the weekend after gaining strength in Ohio zoos.
No, these cows didn’t jump over the moon, but their nearing completion of the journey to a healthy reintroduction into the wild is nearly as remarkable. Five manatees from the Columbus Zoo and three from the Cincinnati Zoo successfully completed their rehabilitation, some coming from extremely dire situations, and were placed in customized transports to fly from the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport to Florida.
