Ohio State Fair’s opening day brings food and fun to fair vets and newcomers alike

Thousands of people passed by the iconic cardinal statue and a singing youth choir Wednesday morning at the Ohio Expo Center’s entrance in Columbus on their way to the Ohio State Fair’s festivities.

With the return of the 12-day event came the return of live animal exhibits, the fan-favorite 2,000 pound butter cow display and exotic deep-fried foods, like Pop-Tarts, Twinkies and bacon-wrapped Oreos. The 168th edition of the annual fair also offers new attractions, like an entertainment alley and a NASA traveling exhibit.
