Vietnam veteran touched by greetings on Honor Flight trip in stark contrast to 1967 return

As we mark our nation’s independence this week, ABC 6 is taking you inside the most recent trip for Honor Flight Columbus as local veterans flew to Washington, D.C., to spend a day visiting their war memorials.

It’s a day that began at 6 a.m. inside John Glenn International Airport and was jam-packed with scheduled stops once arriving in our nation’s capital to honor our Veterans.

But some of the most treasured moments from a trip like this are the ones no one could have planned, thanks to some curious kids on a special trip of their own – 4th graders from Barcroft Elementary in Arlington, Virginia.
