COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — As more and more third graders struggle to meet the critical requirements around proficient reading, the City of Columbus is teaming up with United Way of Central Ohio behind their “Success by third grade” movement.
The city is committing $1 million towards the efforts. Zayanah White is a third-grade student at Highland Elementary and says some of the best parts of learning is figuring out big words. We asked White, “how do you focus on getting used to those big words?” White responded, “I’ll divide it or I’ll sound it out.”
