What you need to know to go to Komen Columbus Race for the Cure on Saturday

An estimated 43,000-plus women and more than 500 men will die from breast cancer in the U.S. this year. Since 1982, the Susan G. Komen organization has fought to reduce — and hopefully, put an end to — such deaths.

The group’s efforts are well-known, particularly its flagship event, Race for the Cure, held annually in more than 50 locations in the country. Locally, the Komen Columbus Race for the Cure will begin at 8:45 a.m. Saturday with a timed 5K, followed by an untimed 5K run/walk and a one-mile family fun walk.
