COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Derrick Byrd has been snowboarding since he was 12 years old. Fifteen years later at the age of 27, his love for carving the slopes has grown from a passion into a profession.
“I will never forget being 15, 16 -years old and just knowing this is for me,” Byrd said. “This is the cathartic release I’ve been looking for. Now I want to share it with people.”
Snowboarding provides Byrd with a release from the stark reminder that he is living with one leg.
