The 2023 OHSAA Wrestling Championships are set for Friday through Sunday at the Jerome Schottenstein Center on the campus of Ohio State.
Saccoccia, who placed second in the state at 120 last season, breezed through Saturday’s 132-pound bracket. The Big Red sophomore opened the district tournament with a 17-0 tech fall over Warren’s Mitchel Rehl before earning a 15-3 major decision over Claymont’s Elijah Parrish in the quarterfinals, and a 12-3 major over Jacob Johnson of Circleville in the semis. He picked up another major decision in the finals, defeating West Holmes’ Hunter McCluggage, 15-2.
“Brody looked good today,” Big Red coach Lucas Huffman said. “He had a great tournament. It’s always good to win a sectional title and now a district title in your home gym and I was happy with what I saw from him today.”
